Steve Bushey has joined our team as a Senior Associate with over 30 years of experience in Land Development and Municipal projects. While in private practice, he directed the preparation and review of preliminary and final design as well as permit applications for numerous civil/site engineering projects in a variety of areas. Previous notable Land Development projects include the Mercy Hospital Relocation, Greely High School Performing Arts Center, The Forefront at Thompson’s Point, Supermarket Expansions for Hannaford Bros. Co. and the Bingham Wind Farm. Municipal projects include the Fall Brook Hydrologic & Hydraulic Analysis, the Riverside Street Sanitary Sewer and the Green Acres Phase 1 Drainage & Street Infrastructure.

Our Scarborough Project is Feature of the Month in NEREJ
Scarborough Downs is on track to be redeveloped into a mixed-use village center under a 30-year, tax-supported plan. A group of Scarborough residents purchased the harness racing venue in hopes of turning it into a village center.
The 500-acre mixed-use project is the largest single development in Scarborough’s history and has the potential for nearly two million s/f of non-residential development.

Gorrill Palmer Adds to Senior Staff
Gorrill Palmer is pleased to announce that Brandon Havu has transitioned to the role of Project Manager within our Transportation Engineering Group. Brandon is a Professional Engineer and has been in the field of transportation engineering since 2010, spending nearly 5 years with us as a Project Engineer. He has experience working with MaineDOT, numerous municipalities, the Maine Turnpike Authority and private sector clients. His experience features a wide range of transportation related infrastructure improvements, including roadway reconstruction, rehabilitation, intersection safety and operational improvements, highway interchanges, tolling facilities, complete streets and shared use pathways. The promotion of Brandon to Project Manager in our Transportation Engineering Group increases the firm’s capacity to provide a high level of service and results to our valued clients.
Vets First Choice Project Approved in Portland
Vets First Choice has received city approval to begin construction on a new headquarters in downtown Portland to support the company’s rapid growth and expansion. The Portland Planning Board approved a site plan for the 170,000-square-foot facility, which will feature space for more than 1,500 employees including offices, a pharmacy, a fulfillment center and software and data science labs.
The project, at 12 Mountfort St., represents a major milestone for Vets First Choice, as the company looks to establish a larger presence in the region and accommodate the significant growth it has experienced over the past few years.
Vets First co-founder and CEO Benjamin Shaw expects to add more than 1,000 new high-quality jobs in southern Maine and believes this downtown location will be critical towards attracting world-class talent. The facility also would serve as the headquarters for a planned new company that would be created when it merges with the animal health division of Henry Schein Inc. of Melville, New York.

Gorrill Palmer is Happy to announce that we expanded our staff. Jennifer Brennan has joined Gorrill Palmer as a Project Planner, further expanding the firm’s capabilities in recent efforts to provide planning and design services to their clients.
Jennifer has spent the last decade working for the Greater Portland Council of Governments and the State of Maine to develop energy-related projects including the State’s first Comprehensive Energy Plan. She is also an adjunct professor at Southern Maine Community College for multiple courses.
Jennifer has a Master of Political Science with an emphasis in urban and regional planning.
This added depth will allow Gorrill Palmer to provide enhanced customer service to clients.

Trey Warren, Matt Rabasco, Zach Gold and Andrew Butler have joined Gorrill Palmer.
Trey graduated from the University of Maine in December of 2017 with a BS in Civil Engineering. While at the University, Trey was a member of University of Maine Rugby Football Club and Black Bear Men’s Chorus. Trey most recently served as a Caretaker/First Mate on Vinalhaven, having worked on the island for three summers. Through his classes and work on his Capstone Project, Trey has an interest in and experience on the design of roadway and pedestrian projects. Trey joins our Transportation Engineering Group as a Design Engineer.
Matt graduated in May from the University of Maine with a BS in Civil Engineering. His most recent experience includes an internship at a Southern Maine Consulting Firm as well as with the City of Lewiston Public Works Department. A graduate of Poland High School, one of Matt’s interests in college was intramural sports. He is skilled with CAD and watershed analysis and joins our Land Development Group as a Design Engineer.
Zach also graduated from the University of Maine with a BS in Civil Engineering this spring and worked as a Student Research Assistant in the Advanced Structures and Composites Center. Zach previously worked for several contractors in the Southwest Harbor area. Zach’s skillsets include AutoCAD and HEC-RAS as well as watershed modeling and analysis He joined our Municipal Group as a Design Engineer.
Andrew completes our May 2018 UMO Graduates having served as a Resident Assistant for two years, while also participating in community service. In addition to his experiences at the University, Andrew completed two internships in the Southern Maine area; the first at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and the second at a consulting engineering firm. Andrew brings his experience in AutoCAD, HydroCAD and HEC-RAS to our Land Development Group.
