Congratulations to Our Staff for Two Awards for 2019

Gorrill Palmer is the only firm operating in Maine to receive both the Zweig Group Best Firm to Work For and Hot Firm Awards for 2019.

We’re pleased to announce that we are a winner of the 2019 Best Firm to Work For award, which honors outstanding workplaces at AEC firms. These firms have been recognized for their ability to inspire their teams to perform at the highest levels in an environment where their people feel they are valued, can make a difference, and can clearly see where their contribution fits into the overall mission and success of the firm. Firms were evaluated comprehensively on firm culture, workplace practices, employee benefits, employee retention rates, professional development, and more – from both management and staff perspective. Awards were given in multiple categories based on firm size and discipline.

Nationwide, there were 53 Civil Engineering Firms that qualified and GP was one of only two firms operating in Maine to receive this award for 2019!

We were also one of only three firms operating in Maine to receive the 2019 Hot Firm award. The Zweig Group Hot Firm List recognizes the 100 fastest-growing architecture, engineering, planning, and environmental consulting firms in the United States and Canada. These firms have outperformed the economy and competitors to become leaders in their chosen fields.

We are very proud of our hardworking and dedicated staff.

Vets First Choice Project Approved in Portland

Vets First Choice has received city approval to begin construction on a new headquarters in downtown Portland to support the company’s rapid growth and expansion. The Portland Planning Board approved a site plan for the 170,000-square-foot facility, which will feature space for more than 1,500 employees including offices, a pharmacy, a fulfillment center and software and data science labs.

The project, at 12 Mountfort St., represents a major milestone for Vets First Choice, as the company looks to establish a larger presence in the region and accommodate the significant growth it has experienced over the past few years.

Vets First co-founder and CEO Benjamin Shaw expects to add more than 1,000 new high-quality jobs in southern Maine and believes this downtown location will be critical towards attracting world-class talent. The facility also would serve as the headquarters for a planned new company that would be created when it merges with the animal health division of Henry Schein Inc. of Melville, New York.
